Authors visit Tuckahoe Middle School Library

Tuckahoe Middle School celebrated April’s School Library Month with a series of author visits.  Clay Chapman, Jennifer Nielsen and Lana Krumwiede all visited and spoke with students.

Author Clay Chapman visited Tuckahoe Middle School’s Library to share his enthusiasm for reading.  He credits his love of reading to his 6th grade teacher.  Mr. Chapman is a native Richmonder.  He has written several Spiderman books with a unique twist and his most recent endeavor is the series Tribe.

Author, Jennifer Nielsen spent a day with Tuckahoe Middle School students.  She presented “Creativity” to 8th grade classes and then moved over to the library where she met with small groups and ate lunch with students.  Students and teachers enjoyed her discussions and walked away full of new ideas and the desire to push their creativity to the max.  Mrs. Nielsen has written several books.  All of our eighth grade students have been reading The False Prince, book one of the Ascendance Trilogy.

Lana Krumwiede, author of Freakling, the first book in the Psi Chronicles, visited Tuckahoe Middle Students.  She presented to our 7th grade students sharing the process of publishing.  Her first edit letter was 13 pages, single spaced.  After the grade level assembly she met with small groups to continue her discussion.  Students and teachers had many questions about writing and the process involved.
