Mehfoud Learns About Mindfulness
Last week, Mehfoud Elementary spent time in the library reviewing how the Prefrontal Cortex (Wise Leader), the Hippocampus (Memory Keeper) and the Amygdala (Security Guard) work. They did some deep belly breathing with the use of a Hoberman Sphere. The sphere helped them to practice taking long and slow inhales through their noses and long and slow exhales through their mouths. they also took time to look at their collection of mindfulness books for all to check out from the library. They then read, Take the Time by Maud Roegiers and brainstormed things in their own life’s that they would like to be more mindful of and take more time to do. Here are two ideas for everyone to try: listen to silence and hug with your eyes closed. These are great ways to calm down the Amygdala and allow the Prefrontal Cortex and the Hippocampus to work effectively. Mehfoud is in their fifth year of using the MindUP program here and it couldn’t be any better.
